Civic engagement depicts the ways through which citizens play a role in the community so that we can improve the situation for everyone in order to direct the future of the community (Juddy, 2005).
Civic engagement can be defined as the collective and individual actions designed to highlight and address problems of the concern’s issues. Civic engagement can be seen in many forms, from individual voluntarism to the involvement in an organization to participate electorally. It involves efforts to communicate the issue directly, work with everyone in the community to solve the issue, work with everyone in the community so that problems can be solved, or interacting with the institution of representative democracy (Hassan, 2017).

1. How has your understanding of civic engagement changed by participating in this assignment?
Civic engagement is defined as the process of making a change in the life of the community and raising the match of skills, values, plus knowledge so that to make a change and distinction in society. Participating in this assignment, I will understand how the seven dimensions of the issues are addressed in the community in how to recognize the problem the people and to provide them solutions. (Skocpol, & Fiorina, 2004).
2. Were you surprised at the number of people you found in your community who were also affected by the same social issue?
Yes, I was surprised by the numbers as the social issue of poverty is increasing, and many people are affected due to poverty. The number of people that were affected by the same issue was high, and during the current pandemic situation, the rate of poverty has increased, and a lot of people have been affected by the social issue.
3. Did you face any challenges while going out into your community and asking people if they were affected by the social issue?
Yes, I faced a lot of challenges while going to the community because most of the people will not open to share their problems and share their experiences and how they were affected by the social issue. Two major issues and challenge was that most of the people were not available during my visit because they were at their jobs or somewhere else.
4. Did you receive any feedback from a community member that was surprising to you?
The most surprising feedback from the community members was that they were unhappy that we were asking about their problems, and they can share their problems and discuss them.
5. If you were to redo this assignment, would you change anything?
If I would have the chance to do my assignment again, I would change the social issue and will study different social issues so that I can get to know more problems and issues in society and the community.
6. Do you feel as though you were successful in your presentation? Do you feel as though members of your surrounding community and the outlying community will be affected by your blog post?
I feel like people around me will learn about the social problems and issues that were addressed, and they would learn about their community and how people are suffering due to poverty so that they can help them in the difficult time.
7. Do you have any other closing comments you wish to make about this assignment?
The closing comment about this assignment is that we as a community should help the poor people who are in a difficult time and due to the current situation of the pandemic, people are suffering more and more, and the community is being affected due to poverty so that we as a nation as a community should help them and reduce the rate of poverty.
