Los Angeles Homelessness
Homelessness in Los Angeles has been a problem for many years and over the years instead of getting lower amount of homeless in the streets it has just increased as more people are seen living in the streets of Los Angeles. The big matter to why homeless in streets increased is for the lack of resources that are offered to the people for the reasons to the causes of homelessness.
(EX: Substance abuse, mental health issues, addiction, poverty, and lack of job skills.)
Exhibit 1:
On the Report of "Homelessness in Los Angeles: A unique crisis demanding new solutions" it affirms, "Research indicates this crisis is caused not only by a combination of historical factors and modern problems but also by unique challenges in scale, persistence, and lack of shelter."
In not helping to improve homelessness it will just continue forward with increasing the amount of people who are in the streets but then if nothin is being done for the better nothing will eventually change. Essentially every individual who is homeless has a story with a reason to why they have ended up were they are now. Proving a certain amount of resources of improving economically can benefit many to the point in which this can decrease the homelessness amount as they can better seek help before they end up in streets living under high ways and the sidewalks.
Having lack of resources and ideas for improvement won't do any better for the amount of people who become homeless throughout the years and as of now instead of changes it have be stated how it's likely that it will continue to increase. most of these individual who are homeless may feel as if that's their final point that they won't be able to get up on their feet again maybe because they are struggling but if there was any proper sort of refuses that they can reach to they will be able to rise with the help and start a new life that isn't living in the streets because they all should have a chance for an opportunity. As some may feel unworthy that they can't do it in this world but that essentially not true they need motivation and help they can get to feel that they are worth something for themselves.
The amount of homeless people in the streets has increased up to 18% in areas that is known to be more of a high priority area. In Spectrum New 1 it mentions “However, the growth in the homeless count tells us people are still falling into homelessness faster than our system can move them out due in large part to the fact that housing remains unaffordable for many Angelinos across LA County,” This brings into realization that there should be changes and better development to help decrease and prevent the amount of people who end up homeless because the more time it takes to improve the more harder it can become to decrease the amount. recourses are there for those who are struggling seek for the help you need before giving up and feeling helpless because at the end of they day there will always be someone who will give you a hand and help.
Personal Affect
As someone who has been living in Los Angeles for a long time homelessness has always been a problem that even if you were to go to Down Town LA there is always many homeless people in the streets that even take over side walks or under highways. I have personally seen how much homelessness have been a problem in the way that sometime it just doesn't look right that nothing is being done to help make changes not just for those individual but for the benefits of the public. Growing up in place where homelessness was common and watch as I got older how much more the homeless population grew I think is a problem that needs a change. As I have seen how some homeless people ca be disrespectful to the public like if the owned the sidewalk and things like this is when I think change is needed because they need to understand that they aren't the owners even if this doesn't identify all. I overall think that all of these people struggle economically that's why they are in the situation they are in I think if society was to give more knowledge to problem then there might be less homeless people int he streets. I do think homeless people need shelters, food and clothing. Maybe if we could make home for them or like donate clothing and food for them they all have a better opportunity of life. I think resources should be offered to homeless because when having somewhere to sleep like homes homeless won't behold in the winter time and won't get sick and when having food, they won't starve. I feel that, that issue should be touched because there is a lot of people that try to have a place or work hard to keep a place but sometimes houses or apartments are to expensive or they require a certain credit score or have a job that pays is more then the rent and it shouldn’t be like that a lot of people choose not to be homeless but are forced while others choose to be in the streets and punish the ones that want to live a decent house. More programs like shelters open for people that don’t have a place to stay because they don’t have the funds or needs to keep a home and live in their cars or on the streets.
